Chemical Engineer

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop conceptual process design for distillation and solvent recycling systems
  • Process detailing including the development of process narratives, block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), and instrument/ equipment sizing and selection
  • Develop technical process equipment lists, specifications, and datasheets
  • Develop mass, utility, and energy balances and defining utility consumption
  •  Generate functional requirement specification
  • Write system testing requirements and performing factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs)
  • Provide support and participating in commissioning & qualification activities. Support the development of equipment, instrument, and process system cost estimates through solicitation of vendor quotes
  • Work with other disciplines to ensure the necessary details related to the systems are fully coordinated
  • Research equipment providers and make recommendations and selections based on client and project requirement
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews and project quality review
  • Manage sub-contractors
  • Review and approve 3D model and fabrication drawings of process systems
  • Support in-progress fabrication in workshop and on-site
  • Supervise site installation of process systems
  • Work closely with client personnel in the collection of data and definition of processes to facilitate system design
  • Perform review and approval of vendor submittal
  • Coordinate with client design development and approvals

  • Need to have enough skills and experience that your welds look like works of art.
  • Must be capable of working under minimum supervision
  • Must work well with others.
  • Can effectively communicate in both technical and user-friendly language, with all staff.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safe culture

Job Requirements

  • Must have: Bachelors in Chemical Engineering
  • Nice to have: 1-3 years experience in process industry
  • Nice to have: Good oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Nice to have: Hands-on experience with MS office.
  • Should enjoy learning new technologies and tools quickly.
  • Should be organized approachable and energetic.
  • Must be: Team player, a collaborator, and an independent thinker.

Employment Type

  • Full-time

Quarterly Profit Sharing

  • Maratek shares 10% of the Net Profit with all the employees on a quarterly basis aligned to the Profit Sharing Policy.

Share Ownership

  • After one full year of employment, employees are eligible to participate in the company’s Share Ownership Plan. Employees get $5,000 of free shares at the end of one year of employment.

We are located in Bolton, Ontario and the public transit system is poor, the candidate should ideally have a vehicle.
