Maratek’s highly automated and advanced Solvent Saver Custom System (SSC100) helps the company’s production by recovering the ethanol medium used in the chromatography, by a method called vacuum distillation.

The GMP-compliant unit operates for a 20-22-hour cycle, in which a continuous feed of ethanol enters the boiling distillation vessel under very high vacuum and is distilled automatically. The ethanol is condensed and re-used while the oil remains in the vessel. A scraper keeps the oil from overheating on the sides of the vessel and ensures a maximum discharge at the end of a cycle

Some 50 gallons of 95 percent ethanol are input into the system each hour along with 5 percent CBD hemp oil. As a result, the system helps the company to produce up to 100 gallons of  THC-free oil per hour.

The system is far more efficient and cost-effective than the use of a CO₂ system or other industry competitors.
